Details for application for the awards for 2008-2009

Applications are invited for these prestigious awards from boys and girls for gap year projects for 2008 to 2009.

New awards:  The Trustees have agreed that one or two scholarships of £1,000 may be awarded to candidates whose financial needs are such that a gap year project would not be possible without such an award.

The Trustees have agreed that 30 scholarships may be made of between £300 and £500 (GBP), and one or two of up to £1,000.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST FOLLOW THESE HEADINGS:

  1. Name and date of birth.

  2. Home address.

  3. Present school.

  4. Details of proposed gap year project.

    1. Gap organisation involved (if there is one).

    2. Reasons for choice of this gap organisation.

    3. Country for project.

    4. Timing and duration of project.

    5. Description of project.

    6. Reasons for the choice of project.

  5. Benefit to the community of the country or countries visited.

  6. Finance.

    1. Particular financial need, including family circumstances.

    2. Cost of project.

    3. Proposed means of raising money.

  7. Achievements.

    1. At school

    2. Outside school

    3. Any additional information

  8. Summary: Objectives of gap year project.

  9. Any other aspects, not covered above, to persuade the Trustees to make an award.

APPLICATIONS SHOULD REACH THE ADMINISTRATOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, PREFERABLY BY 1ST April 2008.  FURTHER APPLICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED UNTIL 1ST JULY 2008, BUT MOST OF THE AWARDS MAY HAVE BEEN MADE BY THAT DATE.

Candidates are advised to consult the Head of their school before applying for an award, as the Administrator, after receiving an application, writes to the Head to ask for a detailed reference.
